Uintah Trip!

Almost every year we go in the High Uintah's with Jared's family. His parents have horses and we pack the horses and spend time fly fishing and enjoying the mountains. I haven't been able to go for a few years because of babies (pregnancy, nursing, etc.), so this year I was determined to go even though I am 6 1/2 months pregnant. We ended up taking my family(Cable's) up to Rock Creek. Jared and I, my parents, Kaydi(little sister), Mary(cousin), and Randy(Uncle) went. We packed two horses and brought one to ride. We left on Thursday morning and came back Saturday, so it was kind of a quick trip, but a lot of fun. I'm glad I went:)

Packing the Horses (Jared is an expert! He is so great to take us "city folk" with him.)

At the trailhead

On the trail. We hiked about 6 miles to a meadow called Corduroy, which is where we camped.

We made it!! Just resting after lunch!!

Fly Fishing in the Rock Creek River. There is no place on earth like this place. You can seriously catch a fish on almost every cast. I've never been fishing anywhere else besides here and I can catch at least 20 fish in 30 minutes. Jared even puts two flies on his pole and catches them two at a time. It is amazing! My sister Kaydi thought it was great. I think we all caught lots of fish. Yum, Yum! We had fish for dinner both nights. It is the best fish you've ever tasted. I can't even describe it:)

Eating fish. Jared's family fries the fish in a pan with oil with Salt and Pepper and we added some garlic salt and then you hold the fish by the tail and the head and eat it right off the bones. Delicious!! It looks pretty weird, but I'm telling you, you've never tasted anything quite so delicious in your life!

My brother, Jake, is on a mission in Fiji and for some reason they have contests to see who can suck both eye balls out of the fish through one socket. He says the eye balls are the best part. Pretty strange if you ask me. So, my sister Kaydi, and cousin Mary decided they were going to try the eyeballs! Yuck! They said they didn't taste so good:(Of course the boys had to knock down a dead tree. It was quite fun to watch them!

Wranglin' the horses. Twice a day we had to hobble the horses and turn them out to eat in the meadow. Randy and Jared bringing them back to tie them up. Rodeo!!
Packin' up camp. Oh, so sad to leave this beautiful place. Hopefully we'll be back soon!
