Ice Skating Days

We love to go Ice Skating during the frigid month of January.  It feels good to play outside in the sun.  We go to a pond in Clinton that is just perfect.  I've been a couple times, but Jared has taken the older kids almost every Saturday.  I think he likes it just as much as they do.  He also took his scouts last week after their winter camp.  Fun times!
Grandpa C and Dallin.  Those are some pretty sweet shades:)
Daddy, Dallin, Camille, Grandma, Paige, and Riley.  Dallin wanted to try out the itty-bitty skates.

We brought the Kett Car since we don't have a pair of skates that fit Mason.  Paige was enjoying the ride by Grandma.

Camille can get going pretty fast on those skates.
Pushing a folding chair is lots of fun too.

 Cute Dall boy.
 Faster Daddy faster!
The Madsen's and Mickelson's came with us one time.  It was a lot of fun!
Just playing around.  I must say she is the queen of this house on most days:)
Like this day....when she discovered the flour drawer and had a great time playing.

 Uh-Oh, you little stinker.
Jared and I painted and glazed this dresser for the boys room downstairs.  It turned out very nice:)

Our current project is the basement bathroom.  It has been in the works for a year now, so we have set a goal to get it done before spring hits.  We have finished the tub surround tile, hooray.  Hopefully I'll remember to take some pictures.

More Holiday fun!

I had to put in a few more cabin pictures that my Mom took!
Camille driving the snowmobile.
Daddy iceskating with Paige.  She loved it!
This is the best Grandpa in the whole world, Grandpa Homer.  He has had this hat and coat since I was a little girl (probably longer than that).  He still comes out and plays with the great-grandkids and drives the snowmobile around and around while they ride the tube or sled.  I'm so glad my kids are getting to know him.
Grandpa and Grandma sitting on the cabin porch basking in the warm sun.

For Christmas this year Jared gave me a 2 night get-away!  It was just was I wanted and needed.  We took the kids to G & G Cable's house on the Sunday night after Christmas and spent a quiet evening at home.  We woke up early Monday morning and headed up to the Canyons for a fun day of skiing.  It was a beautiful sunny day, but the snow was not very good.  We still had a great time though.

That night we went to Midway and stayed at the Zermatt Resort.  We met up with Jason and Melissa and had dinner and went to the Midway ice castles.  They were pretty cool, but Jared's is just as neat.
Melissa and I.  I love this girl like another sister:)

We had fun in the hot tub later that night and spent another relaxing night.  Tuesday morning we went to BYU to see the "Sacred Gifts" display at the art museum.  It was amazing and well worth the trip.  Then it was home again to see the kids!  We were missing Paige the most.  She did great for Grandma though.

That night Jared's parents came to our house to give the kids their Christmas presents and spend some time with them.  They were spoiled of course:)
Grandpa was in charge of the boys and Grandma the girls.....Mas and Gar got remote control cars, just what they wanted.

Camille got a new sparkly backpack and CD's.  Grandma also crocheted a bunch of cute hats for the kids.
Dallin got his own legos, which he LOVES.  Now he feels like one of the big boys.
A picture of the ice castle.

The next day we went to Aunt Terra and Uncle Nate's house for another party!  Taylor is taking guitar lessons, so Camille was trying a few things out.  Grandpa knows how to play the guitar too (surprise).  I thought this was a sweet picture.
 Another shot of the icecastle.
Pretty impressive!

And then it was back to school the very next day.  It was a very memorable Christmas for our family.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas 2013 will go down in the books as great!!  We did many things in the month of December that helped us reflect on the birth of our Savior and serve others.  We participated in our annual December Family Home Evenings with elderly or less active friends and used lessons from our book, "A Christ-centered Christmas".  We enjoyed sharing our evenings with special people.  We also visited the 1st annual Weber County creche display at the fair grounds!  It was really wonderful because it started December off on the right foot.  A lady in our ward was putting together blessing bags to give to the homeless shelter, so we helped out by having the kids earn "play" money by doing service around the house and then coming to Mom's "store" to buy items to donate to the blessing bags.  Camille and I were able to help assemble the bags, which was a lot of fun!
For the Cable Family Christmas Party we went down to Temple Square to see the lights!  We bundled everyone up and braved the cold and crowds.  Kendra and Luke brought hot cocoa and donuts for everyone!
Elle, Camille and Scarlett
The group.  Garet, Addy, Kaylyn, baby Anabelle, Kaydi, Scarlett, Carly, Grey, Luke, Elle, Camille, Grandma, Dallin, Isaac, Kendra, Owen, Mason, Crystal, Paige, Grandpa.

That night we headed to Duchesne for the Taylor Family Christmas party on Saturday.  It was a late night, but I'm glad we made the trek that night because it snowed several inches over night and would have been treacherous.  We acted out the annual Nativity, had a super delicious meal, and opened cousin presents.

Jared made these 4 mouth watering cheesecakes for dessert.  Peanut Butter, Vanilla (New York), Chocolate, and Pumpkin.  The were almost too pretty to eat.  We even got to stay for Sunday and go to church with Grandma and Grandpa.  We had a great time!
Then on Christmas Eve we decorated gingerbread houses (in the morning) and then it was off to G & G Homer's for their annual Christmas party.  We acted out the Nativity again!  Camille - Mary, Dallin - Shepherd, Mason - Wiseman, Garet - Donkey.

Jared built this awesome manger!  It was perfect.

 Little blue-eyed babe!
Next, home to open new jammies, read the account of Christ's birth in the Book of Mormon, and open stocking notes.  What a cute bunch!

Christmas morning was a little crazy!  Camille decided to wake up at 4:00 am and wake everyone else up (minus Paige).  We told them they couldn't get up until 6:00, so they went back to bed (I don't think they went back to sleep) and were up at 6:00 right on the dot.  It was a long day and Santa may get a note to wrap all the presents next year:)
Garet's favorite thing....his own pocket knife and mini leatherman.
Mason's favorite - a flashlight that plugs into the wall.
 Dallin's - firetruck
Mason - also got this bean bag chair!
Camille - new electric toothbrush, fishing pole, boots, gloves, coat.

All the kids got new mud boots!  Hooray!  Garet carries his knife everywhere.

We went to Grandma & Pa Cable's house for brunch and to open cousin and Grandma presents.  Grandma gave all the kids new games!  Camille - Word on the Street, Garet - Uno Attack, Mason - Hands Down, Dallin - Don't Spill the Beans.
We even squeezed a game or two in.
The day after Christmas it's a tradition to go to Grandpa Homer's cabin and Snowmobile.  It was a blast and we even got some ice skating in.
Garet is getting really good this year!
Some of my cousins...Colton, Brady, Kylie, Andrew, Scarlett, Reagan, and Jared.

Amelia, Mason and Scarlett playing in the cabin.

My Uncle Randy brought this mini snowmobile and the boys thought they were in heaven.

PHEWWWW!!  That was a lot of fun squeezed into a few days:)  And....there's more to come!
