Wasatch Back Relay

Jared and his brother Jason and 10 other friends competed in the Wasatch Back Relay this past weekend!! If you don't know what that is, they run from Logan to Park City (181 miles) along the wasatch back. It is a pretty grueling race because of the hills. Each team member runs 3 legs of the race. Jared's legs were 7 miles, 3 miles, and 5 miles. He was extremely sore the next couple of days!!! Their team placed 19 out of 550 teams with a finishing time of 23:03 hours. They did awesome. My sister-in-law Melissa and I volunteered at the Snowbasin exchange on Friday afternoon and were able to see our husbands at the very end of our shift. They had each run 1 leg and were pretty optimistic. The next day (Saturday) we drove to Park City to see the finish. It was very exciting. The last runner comes in and the team joins them and they run to the finish line together! What a long day and night! Jared said he got about 3 hours of sleep, so he was exhausted afterwards. He doesn't think he would do it again, but only time will tell. It's kind of like having a baby; at the time you think you could never to that again, but our minds forget the bad things and we remember the good things. I think it would be fun to do someday when I'm not pregnant or nursing. Will that day ever come?!?

Camping

We went camping up by Mantua last Friday/Saturday. It was a blast. We got Camille a trail bike that hooks behind Jared's bike and she thinks she is in heaven. She has so much fun on it. Garet gets to ride in the bike seat on my bike and we cruise around and have a lot of fun. My sister Kendra and her husband Luke came up Friday night. Elle and Camille had a great time of course and Garet and Isaac played in the dirt! We had a lot of fun and all the kids slept really well. This is a great age to go camping:) Saturday morning we headed up to Logan to visit our old stomping ground. We had a picnic on campus and then drove around and saw our old apartments and showed Camille the hospital where she was born. Of course we couldn't be in Cache Valley and not get Charlie's ice cream. It is the best!! Jared claims that it is the best ice cream ever made. If any of you know Jared, he is an ice cream connoisseur, so it must be really good. He even tried to get the recipe from them, but of course they couldn't let their secret out. We have lived in Clinton for almost 4 years and he still hasn't found a comparable ice cream. Anyway, if you've never had any you'll have to go sometime. When we got home we unpacked and headed over to my parents house for an early Father's Day dinner. It was awesome weather and we had a great time being together.

Ultrasound

It's a Boy!!!

I had my ultrasound today and we are having a boy. Jared is out of town until Friday (last minute), so I took the kids with me to the appointment. Camille was pretty disappointed that it was not a girl. I thought she might cry, but afterwards we talked about all the great things her and I will get to do. She is getting used to the idea now. Garet says "brother, in mommies tummy." I don't know if he fully understands what that means, but he thinks he does!

We are very excited for Garet to have a brother! Garet is also the only grandson on Jared's side, so now he won't be the only boy. Yipee!
