Squaw Basin 2014

We decided we could take all our kids in the Uinta's this year!  We planned a trip to Squaw Basin (Upper and Lower Shamrock lakes) and had an eventful trip.  The day started off nice, but as soon as we were packed up and headed up the trail the rain started.  We put the rain coats on and had them on/off the rest of the day.  It was a pretty steady rain for most of the 5 1/2 hour journey up the trail.
It was our family and Grandpa and Will.  Good thing we had them!
Paige's first trip to the Uinta's.  She did so great on the horses in the rain.  We couldn't have asked for better kids.  They were troopers.  Mason and Garet hiked a lot!
Garet bought his sling shot at cub scout day camp and couldn't wait to try it out!
Ready to head up the trail on Eclipse.
 Will and Mason on Jag.
Paige and Dad on wild Topaz.  Jared had to bail off with Paige one time when Topaz was throwing a fit.  Luckily no one got hurt.
 In the rain.
Mason was riding on the back of Grandpa's horse and we were going up a really steep section and he said, "Grandpa, I'm falling off!"  Grandpa tried to grab him, but missed and he slid right off the back of Goliath onto the trail.  All the other horses were ahead so we yelled at him and told him we would come right back to get him after we made it  up the hill.  He started crying and saying, "Wait, wait!"  Grandma gave him a whistle before we left and told him to always carry it with him and blow it if he got lost, so a couple seconds later we heard a little whistle.  He thought we were going to leave him for sure!  Needless to say he hiked the rest of the way to camp:)
After camp was set up everyone was happy!

The fishing was awesome at dusk.
The lake we were camped at had beautiful lily pads!

We caught lots of big fish.
Grandpa was a pro filet man.
Mason and Garet spent free time chopping away!
Will brought lots of para-cord, so the kids has a great time making things.
Eating fresh fish is my favorite part of the trip.  Paige sure liked it too.
 Fish fry!
Paige loves her Daddy best of all.

Will brought T-bone along for the trip and Dallin became good friends with him.
Our first complete family photo in the Uinta's!
This was our shelter from the rain.
Mason's first fish and it even broke his pole!
 Camille's first fish!
Mason caught the biggest fish of all.  It was about 15 1/2 inches long.

 Time to head home!

Until next time!  Thank you Grandpa, Will, and Dad for making it possible!

Visit to the Madsen's

The kids and I headed down to visit the Madsen's over the 24th while Jared was at scout camp.  We miss them so much!  They were the best neighbors.  We met them in Fairview for the local parade and then headed to Brian's Grandma's house for a BBQ.  The kids didn't even miss a beat!  Just like old times.
They moved to Spring City to be turkey farmers!  We had to stop and visit all the turkeys.

We camped in a trailer up the canyon that night and then headed to Palisade State Park for the day.  We rented a paddle boat and canoe, and enjoyed a fun day in the sun!

Thanks Madsen's!  We had a great visit.

Girls Camp and Random boating

I was called as 1st counselor in the YW a few months ago and was able to go to girls camp in July!  A good neighbor, Mom, and Hubby took over the kids so I could be there all 4 days.  It was so awesome!  I had more fun as a leader than I did as a girl.  We have the best girls ever.  They were so well behaved and had such a great time:)  We had about 35 girls and 10 leaders, pretty big group.

A few girls bought these duck dynasty PJ's at Walmart for $5.  So funnny!  Taylor, Mckenna, Saskya, Aubrey, Marci, Grace, and Emma.
Another picture of a few girls on our hike.
Carrigan, Wynter, Miranda, Jentri, and Alyssa
Those are the only pictures I took because another leader was in charge of pictures.
I love my calling!

We've been boating at least 15 times this summer and most of the time we go with friends or family, so one Saturday we decided we better go by ourselves and let the kids do whatever they wanted.  Camille and I double skiied!
Paige wanted to go on the tube!  She loved it.
Having a boat is one of the funnest things we've done this summer:)
