New Bed!!!

As many of you know, Jared has been building a bed for us! It is finally finished and it is beautiful. He did such a great job! He even found some old pallets that were made out of mahogany and used them instead of buying mahogany at a pretty price. So, they are made of maple and mahogany. Now I can't wait for the matching dresser and night stand!

Sugar Challenge Update

How is the challenge going for everyone? Jared and I are doing pretty good. Only one week left. I think we are both missing the icecream that we have occasionally, but we are surviving. We've eaten lots of fruit lately so that is good. I'm usually fine if I have fruit: apple, banana, leather, or raisins after my meal or with it. The hardest time of day is in the afternoon. I get the biggest sweet tooth at that time of day. I'm trying to train myself to not crave sugar by doing other things and keeping myself busy. I didn't think I would be able to do this, but it turns out that the longer I go without sugar the easier it is. I made it through a trip to our friends cabin with lots of treats, a cake decorating enrichment night, and two birthday parties, so I think this week will be home free! I hope to continue eating sugar in moderation when this challenge is over though. I don't want this whole month to be for nothing, so I think I will tell myself I can have a treat or sugar 3-4 times per week. We'll see how it goes. Let me know how you are doing! Sugar Free!!!

Happy Birthday Garet!

I can't believe my little Garet is 3 years old! He was just a baby yesterday!!!

March 17, 2006
We had a great "week long celebration". Saturday we had a birthday party with Jared's family. My niece Taylor and Jared's Dad have birthdays in March so we did a big party for all of them. It was a fun day for all of us. I found this cute bulldozer cake online and decided to give it a try. I'm definitely an amateur when it comes to cake decorating, but this one actually turned out. Garet was very excited about it and helped me with the "dirt". I was pretty excited that it worked. For those of you wondering, I didn't have any cake or icecream or frosting or candy during all of this. I did lick my finger once, though it was on accident. Oops! I was really wanting to have some of the candy that I used to decorate the cake with:)

Garet got some cowboy boots from his Grandma and Grandpa, which he has worn almost non-stop since he got them. They were a big hit! He also got some batman Pj's. The morning after the party he got up and went to the bathroom and then came running into my room with his underwear on with his cowboy boots and his batman shirt and cape. He said, "I'm a batman cowboy!" He cracks us up. Then on Sunday we had a dinner/party with my family. I tried to make a dinosaur cake, but it didn't quite work out. It was a sad dinosaur, but Garet just said, "It's a broken dinosaur cake." Oh well, I didn't expect both cakes to work out. I don't even think I got a picture of that cake. He got a froggy book with a puppet from Grandma & Grandpa Cable that is pretty funny. He wants to read it all the time! Jared gave him a stool that he built and I made a superman/batman cape for him. Now he has some boy dress-ups, so he won't have to wear Camille's dresses.

Cool cape!

The awesome stool that Daddy built!

So finally on Tuesday, Garet's real birthday (17th), we got to go to the Treehouse Museum for Camille's preschool fieldtrip. We had a great time! Then to top off the birthday celebration he chose to have Lasagna and homemade french bread for dinner! Yummy! One of my favorites also. We love our little Garet!

Cabin and Dress Up!

This past weekend we were lucky enough to go to our good friends cabin! Another couple in our ward came too and we had a blast snomobiling, 4-wheeling, sledding, talking, and of course eating yummy food. We headed to the cabin Thursday afternoon and came home Saturday night. We definitely felt like we needed another vacation after the vacation because we were sleep deprived and just plain worn out, but it was well worth it. On the way home we were asking the kids what their favorite part of the cabin was and Camille replied, "Playing on the stairs!!!" Garet said, "I liked the yellow 4-wheeler!" They thought it was so cool that the stairs had "cracks" in them. Oh, the things that entertain kids!:) Mason was, of course, and angel. He even went on the snomobiling excursion to the sledding hill with us. It was about a 20-30 minute ride on the snomobile and then we spent 2 hours sledding and playing and he slept the entire time! I am still amazed at what a wonderfully, mellow baby he is. I never have to worry about going anywhere or doing anything with him because he is content to do whatever. We are very blessed.

The other day I asked Camille if she would play with Mason for a few minutes while I ran down to switch the laundry. When I came up this is what I found...... Camille decided it was time to dress up her brother! She even put the shoes on with it. Of course, he was just as happy as can be, smiling and giggling the whole time.

No Sugar Challenge!

My good friend Jody, from our days in Logan inspired me to do this no sugar challenge with her. I also convinced Jared to do it with me. It definitely helps to have moral support:) So, we are still allowed to eat fruit, honey, and things that have a minimal amount of sugar in them, like pancakes or waffles, but no cookies, candy, icecream, jam, syrup, etc. We are going to do it for the whole month of March. I love sweets and I think I am addicted to them because I seriously would eat a treat or something sweet after lunch and dinner. Horrible, I know. This will hopefully get me out of that habit and help my body to not crave sugar.
So, is anyone else up for the challenge?! Can you do it? So far so good for us, but it's only been 3 days:) We'll keep you posted.
