One of our last boating days of the season at Mantua! We had the best time and all the kids did something. It was a trip to remember.

Terra planned a family pioneer trek to Martin's Cove. It was supposed to be Thurs, Sept 14 -Sat, Sept 16, but the weather was looking bad, so we decided to leave Wednesday night and do our main trek on Thurs, so we wouldn't have to trek in the rain. That turned out to be a good plan. The weather was beautiful on Thursday and we had an amazing time.

Thursday night after dinner when we were just getting ready for bed it started to rain and then it down poured and rained on and off most of the night. The water got trapped between our tarp and the tent and leaked into our tent and got a couple of the sleeping bags wet. Friday morning we walked around the visitors center and when the rain finally let up a little we headed to Independence Rock and Devil's Gate.

| Their were hundreds of names engraved in the rock. Independence Rock was a land mark for all the travelers who came west. If they made it to Independence Rock by July 4th it usually meant they would make it to their destination before winter set in over the Rocky's. |

| On Saturday we went to the Sixth crossing visitor center. The missionaries were fantastic! |

| We drove to the start of Rocky Ridge and thought about hiking part of it, but we were running short on time, so we headed over to Rock Creek Hollow. |
This was such a memorable and spiritual trip that really helped our family appreciate our pioneer ancestors. We are so grateful for the great sacrifices they made.
