Before I get to the Lake Powell picts....we took the Madsen's kids to Willard the day before they moved. It was a blast. The kids had a really great time tubing around.
Riley, Garet, Camille
Mason kept putting his head down. Silly boy!
Preston was extremely nervous about going on the boat, but by the end he was on the tube. Even little Annie was brave enough to try it out.
Annie, Preston, and Garet.
Riley wanted to try the knee board, but it didn't work out so well and she tipped over and was getting really scared, so I made Jared jump in the water to help her. So, he did a few tube rides with the kids.
We are sure going to miss the Madsen's!
We did the annual memorial day festivities in Duchesne and went on a 60 mile bike ride. It was fun to visit family! Jared took Paigey to see the horses and she fell in love with them. She would cry every time she had to get off. Ahhhhh, so sweet.
Tuesday we helped G & G plant their garden and spent some time enjoying Duchesne. Wednesday morning we headed down to Lake Powell bright and early! We met the Button's (our friends we go to Moab with every year) in Price and then off we went. It was a very long drive, but the kids did great. We launched the boat and then I drove the truck over to Stanton Creek and we found a place to camp on the beach. We set up camp and then boated and boated and boated some more, only stopping to eat. It was a blast watching the kids have such a great time.
Here is Camille knee boarding. This is a great trainer because they get the feel for the boat and water and it holds the rope for you.
Breelyn (10yrs) water skiing for the first time. She got up on the first try! What a pro!
This was Paige's designated spot. Her life jacket props her up and she snoozes away. She was a trooper for all the life jacket wearing, bumpy boat riding, being held she had to endure.
Garet knee boarding, Dad wake boarding.
Thursday was a little cloudy and overcast so we boated and hiked to some Indian Ruins. They were pretty cool.
Jared built this boom so the kids can learn how to ski. It is sweet!!! Camille popped right up on the skies. Once they are confident they try the rope.
Garet wake boarding.
Playing at the beach.
Sweet Paigey.
Dallin was our tube maniac. He wanted to ride it all the time and had a huge grin on his face when her did.
Raina (7) and Mason. Raina also knee boarded, but I didn't get a photo. Mason went on the knee board with Dad, but he screamed and wanted to get off. Then the next day he was saying that it was pretty fun:)
Camille up on the skies.
Dad taking a dip in the nice water.
Garet on the wake board.
Marshmallow time! It cooled off at night for comfortable camping and time around the fire. Camille and Breelyn were making their own fire up the beach, so we lit it for them and they kept it going for about an hour and a half using only sticks and twigs they scavenged and blowing.
The water was rising significantly everyday. We moved our tent one day and by the next day the water was clear up to our front door. Good thing we were leaving! I wish I would have taken a picture.
We had such a blast! The boat ran perfectly. We asked the kids if they would rather go to Moab or Lake Powell and they all said unanimously "Lake Powell!!" So I guess we will be making it our annual tradition.
