And the winner is.....

My three little gardeners!!
On Labor Day we celebrate Hooper Tomato Days!  The kids decided to enter some of our produce into the 4-H contest.  It was a lot of fun (even in the soggy rain).  Camille entered Japanese Beans aka Edamame.
Mason entered mini pumpkins
Garet entered green beans

We entered a basket of all our produce, honey and eggs.
Mason did Grapes.
 Garet entered our largest cucumber.
 Camille - Bell Peppers

Mommy - Rhubarb and Bread
We also entered gourds, anaheims, carrots, and pears.  It was a lot of fun and the kids got to use their money at the carnival/fair.  They thought it was pretty awesome!  We love our garden produce:)

A week of firsts....

The first day of school 2013-2014 school year.
Camille 4th grade - Miss Hunt
Garet 2nd grade - Mrs. Larsen
So far they are off to a great start.  They are growing and learning so fast!
Jared had to go to work early so I got to take them to school along with Mason, Dallin and Paige.  We rode our bikes which was a lot of fun:)  We are loving the routine again.
That Saturday we headed up to Snow Basin (again) to attempt to hike Mount Ogden.  It was a beautiful cool morning.  We hopped right on the gondola and headed up.  The kids thought this was the coolest thing they had ever done.
Paige didn't know what she was in for:)
We hiked up and up... and had to rest.  Little 4, 7, and 9 year old legs have to take twice as many steps as ours.
 and up...and up...

 Getting closer...
Until at last we reached the top.  Our first time to the Mount Ogden Peak.  We definitely went the easy way, but we still had to hike about 2.5 miles and probably another 500-1000ft vertical.  It was not easy, especially with those five little munchkins.  They were pretty good sports considering....Paige was kind of a stinker on the way down.  Mason didn't want to be in the picture...but we forced him so we would have documentation that he really did hike to Mount Ogden when he was only 4 years old:)

We decided to take another route down, which was a huge mistake because you have to go way down and then back up to the needles lodge.  Jared, Dallin, Paige, and Camille got ahead of us a little ways and decided to go straight up the face of the mountain.  Jared had Dallin in the back pack and was holding Paige, who had finally fallen asleep.  She just cried and cried in my back pack.  So, they hiked up this super steep mountain with no trail and I took the other boys and hiked up the trail.  It took us about 15 minutes longer and was still pretty hard for their little legs.  We finally made it back down and then rode the gondola to the bottom.  We were sure glad to sit on that gondola and rest.  Then of course we had to ride it again so the kids could ride in their own car.  It was a fun-filled day and once again I told Jared..."Next time we go hiking, let's get a babysitter!"  Somehow we always forget.....

Duchesne Adventures

We went to Duchesne on weekend in August when Jared had Friday off, so he and Jason and Dad could shoe the horses.  They decided to put together a last minute Uinta trip.  So, while they were shoeing horses we (Melissa, Grandma and I) took the kids over to the elementary school to do a bike rodeo and just let them play.  They had a good time.

The next day we took a quick little trip to the lake.  Jared and I got lots of ski time and the kids found a perfect mud hole to play in.

Notice Mason in the back ground....he sunk clear up to his knees.  It was gooey!
Paige and Grandpa.  She like the boat ride.

These is just a random pict of the kids shucking corn.  They were actually being really good, happy helpers, so I had to snap a photo.
Now on to the Uinta trip.  All in all it was a great time for everyone!  Jared, Camille, Garet, Mason, Grandpa, Uncle Jason, and friend Carl. (plus 6 horses)  They camped at the Gorge and visited several lakes at the head of Rock Creek.
 They did lots of riding...

 Playing in the lean-to...
 Eating fish...

 Chopping...
 Cooking fish...
 Hiking...
Building their very own fire pit...
 Fishing at lakes and rivers....

Eating treats with Grandpa (what could be better)....
 Going on a day adventure....

 Catching more fish...

 Swimming in the icey river...

Carving sticks (that they couldn't bring home)....so a picture will do.

Thanks for another great trip down in the books!
