A week of firsts....

The first day of school 2013-2014 school year.

So far they are off to a great start.  They are growing and learning so fast!

 Jared had to go to work early so I got to take them to school along with Mason, Dallin and Paige.  We rode our bikes which was a lot of fun:)  We are loving the routine again.

 That Saturday we headed up to Snow Basin (again) to attempt to hike Mount Ogden.  It was a beautiful cool morning.  We hopped right on the gondola and headed up.  The kids thought this was the coolest thing they had ever done.

 We hiked up and up... and had to rest.  Little 4, 7, and 9 year old legs have to take twice as many steps as ours.

 Until at last we reached the top.  Our first time to the Mount Ogden Peak.  We definitely went the easy way, but we still had to hike about 2.5 miles and probably another 500-1000ft vertical.  It was not easy, especially with those five little munchkins.  They were pretty good sports considering....Paige was kind of a stinker on the way down.  Mason didn't want to be in the picture...but we forced him so we would have documentation that he really did hike to Mount Ogden when he was only 4 years old:)

We decided to take another route down, which was a huge mistake because you have to go way down and then back up to the needles lodge.  Jared, Dallin, Paige, and Camille got ahead of us a little ways and decided to go straight up the face of the mountain.  Jared had Dallin in the back pack and was holding Paige, who had finally fallen asleep.  She just cried and cried in my back pack.  So, they hiked up this super steep mountain with no trail and I took the other boys and hiked up the trail.  It took us about 15 minutes longer and was still pretty hard for their little legs.  We finally made it back down and then rode the gondola to the bottom.  We were sure glad to sit on that gondola and rest.  Then of course we had to ride it again so the kids could ride in their own car.  It was a fun-filled day and once again I told Jared..."Next time we go hiking, let's get a babysitter!"  Somehow we always forget.....
